Marinara Sauce

Low Sodium

This sauce has just the right amount of kick from the red pepper flakes and is a perfect quick Italian meal.  It's one of my favorite creations. Gotta love being Italian.  If you don't like the heat, leave out the red peppers to make a more traditional marinara.  Mangia!

Ingredients:

4 tablespoon, Extra Light Tasting Olive Oil

6 cloves garlic
2 container (3 1/2 cups ea.), Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes - No Salt Added
1 container (3 1/2 cup (121g) ea.), Tomatoes, Whole Peeled Plum, 28 oz Can
3 teaspoon, Sugar
4 tbsp(s), Generic Oregano
4 tbsp(s), Dried Basil
0.25 tsp(s), Crushed Red Chili Pepper Flakes

black pepper to taste

Instructions:

Add oil and chopped garlic to a sauce pot.  Saute garlic until lightly browned.

Add whole tomatoes to a mixing bowl and use your hands to crush tomatoes. Add the tomatoes to the sautéed garlic and oil. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and cook for about 20 minutes.  Stirring frequently.  When sauce is done cooking, remove from heat and serve over your pasta of choice.

Note if you like more heat add more red pepper flakes or eliminate them completely if you don't like the heat.
